O M G. So, I am pretty terrible at this blogging thing, but have you ever been a first year teacher?! #intense #notime But in all seriousness, I have not posted a blog in almost two months! Here is an update!

When they said the first year is crazy, they were not lying! I feel like I am in a constant state of "oh crap," but I am surviving! I am also learning so much each day and cannot wait to see what the next few months bring!

First, can we talk about how obsessed I am with my kiddos?! They are so precious and totally get that Mr. Hood is not normal! Today, for example, they got popsicles and kept reminding each other not to get the tables sticky because it would cause me to have a heart attack haha! I feel like I have developed such great relationships with them in such a short time and am looking forward to all the adventures to come!

Can we also talk about how obsessed I am with my school and colleagues?! I could not have picked a better school to work at! Everyone at CBES has been so welcoming and made me feel like part of the family! #onceaBlufferalwaysaBluffer

Well, now I do not know what to write... I like the idea of this being interactive, so send me your questions and I will answer them in my next post! I will also include pictures of my classroom next time because it is slowing coming together, and I want you all to see it!

Until next time, happy teaching!

The Countdown is On!

Hi all!

With school starting in about two weeks, I wanted to give everyone an update on what is going on in room 203 at CBE!

This week was the first week I really had an opportunity to work in my classroom. We all know I am a clean freak so of course the room had to be cleaned from floor to ceiling! I even went as far as to clean the outside of my window (yeah, I have a problem!). I also cleaned all 20 of my desks spotless and then decide I was not going to use them. Oops. We do however have nice (and clean!) round tables that I think my kiddos will enjoy more as a work space! Tomorrow is all about organizing and decorating, so check out my Instagram and Facebook for pictures of the finished product! I am so excited to see how it turns out!

My classroom! A work in progress!
I also had the opportunity to meet and talk with many of my new colleagues and let me just say they are all FABULOUS!!!! I am so looking forward to working with them this year and seeing what all we can accomplish! I truly believe it is going to be the best year ever!!!

The next two weeks are all about inservice and finishing up all the last minute projects before my kiddos arrive on August 8. I cannot wait to keep you guys updated on all the happenings in third grade!

Happy Teaching!

Welcome to Third Grade!

Hi all,

I have decided to start a blog (thanks, Reed!) to chronicle my first-year of teaching and all the adventures my third-graders take me on!

For those of you who do not know, I will be teaching third-grade English/reading language arts and writing at Cedar Bluff Elementary School in Knoxville, Tennessee for the 2016-2017 school year! I am beyond excited, as this is the grade and content area I have always wanted to teach! Anyhoo, get ready for all posts third grade! It is going to be a great year!! :)

Happy teaching!
